At Memory Chat, your data belongs to you. We use Zero-Knowledge Encryption, a highly secure method that keeps your information private, even from us.
What Is Zero-Knowledge Encryption, and How Does It Keep Your Data Safe?
Think of it as a private safe for everything important to you. You hold the only key, so neither its maker nor the company storing it can open the safe without you. Memory Chat encrypts private content before it leaves your device. Only the correct keys can decrypt the stored material, and the Memory Chat team does not possess them.
Data Protection Methods Explained
Encryption in Transit: protects data while it travels between your device and the server.
Encryption at Rest: protects data stored on the server.
End-to-End Encryption (E2EE): only the sender and intended recipient can access the message.
Zero-Knowledge Encryption: the company never keeps the decryption keys, so it cannot read your data, even if it wanted to.
How Is Your Data Protected Inside the App?
Memory Chat protects notes, images, files, recordings, checklists, budgets, and saved locations with encryption. Memory Chat encrypts your private content on your device before synchronizing it to the service. Encryption keeps the content unreadable without the correct key. When you open or use it, an authorized device decrypts the data locally.
How Does It Work Technically?
A unique Master Key safeguards the individual keys assigned to your encrypted content.
We don’t store this key on our servers. It remains in protected storage on your device or in your account’s recovery services, such as Secure Storage on Android, Apple Keychain / iCloud Keychain on iPhone and iPad, or Google Drive when backup is enabled.
The result: we cannot read your data, even if we wanted to.
What Happens If the Servers Are Hacked?
A hacker might reach the servers, but the files there would still be useless without your private key.
Strong Protection Without the Complexity
Encryption runs quietly in the background, so everything keeps working normally: taking notes, saving photos and files, creating checklists, managing budgets, saving locations, sharing notes, adding reminders, and using the app offline.
